Room Dividers from Old Doors
Hinge together recycled or antique wood panel doors for an interesting room divider. Once assembled, decorate the divider to make it really stand out. You can paint the door panels to match a room’s color combination, or cover them with decoratively painted motifs and designs.

Another idea is to cover sections or all of the wood panel door room divider with fabric, decoupage elements or sheets of decorative paper. You could also create a real attention getting divider by covering sections of the wood panels with pebbles, shells, tiles, beads, or other small items, making a mosaic.

Room Dividers from Recycled Window Panes
Another interesting idea is building room dividers by hinging together used or antique wooden windowpanes. Join them vertically if they are not tall enough, by either removing the glass or leaving it intact. Painting the wooden sashes in plain colors or decoratively is attractive. If you choose to remove the panes of glass from the windows, you could also fill the space with strung beads or macramé designs.

An easy way to create room dividers is by using one large or several smaller bookshelves grouped together. These versatile storage units can look unique if filled with interesting objects. Items to consider using are antique or modern books with attractive covers, framed photos, candles, potted plants, figurines, pots, vases, glassware etc. The bookshelves themselves may be painted to match the room décor, tole painted, or decoupaged.
